Acupuncture and/or Chinese Herbal medicine as a stand alone system for Infertility

At the Fertility and IVF Acupuncture Clinic, acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbal medicine is generally administered weekly when used as a stand alone method of treatment. Each visit consists of a consultation, acupuncture treatment and the supply of the Chinese herbal medicine. The fertility treatments you receive at the Fertility and IVF Acupuncture Clinic are highly customised and are aimed at treating the underlying imbalance presented in each fertility patient. The treatment administered on each visit will vary depending on where the patient is in their menstrual cycle.

Some fertility patients may prefer to treat their infertility with either acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine. The suitability of these preferences will need to be discussed at the time of initial consultation when the cause of your infertility is assessed. Both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine treatments have their respective comparative advantages. Generally speaking, each modality is better suited than others in treating certain causes of infertility.

When attending the Fertility Acupuncture and IVF Clinic you are required to complete a basal body temperature (BBT) chart. This is used to provide insight into the timing of your menstrual cycle, ovulation and cervical mucus. When acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are used as a stand alone treatment, it can take up to three months for the menstrual cycle to be effectively regulated before a pregnancy can take place. The BBT chart will assist Dr Kirk Wilson at the Fertility and IVF Acupuncture clinic to carefully monitor changes in your fertility and keep you up to date with any developments.
